Speaking of the Tooth Fairy

I sometimes wish there really was a toothfairy, because I am not good at this. Emery lost her first two teeth right about the time she turned 4....I know crazy uh. So for awhile now I have had some practice at this, she is 8 now and has lost A LOT of teeth. But for some reason I still keeping making mistakes...like forgetting to make the switch ;) if you know what I mean. I have had to make excuses so many times of why the toothfairy didn't stop by, such as, oh we should leave a note, put in an envelope, etc. I have even picked up the tooth, letf the money, and than forget to get rid of the tooth, so the kids will see them in the kitchen or the bathroom the next day. Just the other day, Emery lost two teeth within a day of eachother. I noticed something a little strange in her mouth where one of the teeth had come out at, so I asked her if I could see her teeth again. Of course they were still under her pillow (I had no idea she put them there..I wasn't even sure she had the teeth still). She brought them to me and than a couple of days later, I remembered I should put them back, but I discovered I had thrown them away with some other trash...nice. I'm wondering if anyone else, has a secret desire to have a personal tooth fairy. Right now we are introducing Cambree to the binky fairy. This is not really the nicest fairy in her eyes, because she is going to come soon and take all the binkies away for good. We will see how that goes.

Brilliant! I have never heard of the binky fairy. But, what a good idea!

We have little home made tooth fairy pillows with a little pocket that they put their tooth in. The going rate for a tooth fair around here is $1. And, thanks to Damon we haven't missed yet- although I almost always forget. I noticed one day there is advice on the internet for what to do if you miss.

Ryan commented one time when he came to our apartment door that, "The diaper fairy" had come (diapers sitting on our front step). I think that's my favorite fairy of all. But, if only the diaper fairy would take them away instead of leave them.

By the way, we made the mistake of discussing with my in laws what the going rate was for the tooth fairy when Damon was little. They told us $25, making it sound like OUR tooth fairy were ripping off our kids. We just glared at them...Lucky for us the kids didn't catch on -and we're good.

I am so glad that someone is as bad at being the tooth fairy as I am. I secretly want the kids not be believe in her. I would like to just hand them money and tell them not to bother putting the tooth under the pillow because the tooth fair forget our house all the time!! My sister also used the binky fairy and it worked, the fairy left a nice gift in exchange for the binky.

You definitely aren't the only one. This just recently happened to me. Two days in a row I forgot and had Bryson pretty upset. It was easier for me when their teeth were falling out close together but this break in between is killing me.
