Meet Rex....

So apparently I am weak! For the last few months we have been thinking about what type of dog we would like to have. We were working on a friends poodle having puppies with a maltese, but I saw this little guys face the other night and I couldn't resist. Everything I was planning went out the window. I even called Bryan the next day after I saw him, told him about this adorable little puppy I saw. His comment was, well if he is there when I get home, than whatever!

He is a chorkie, he was one of three in the litter. He was so tiny when we got him, and I couldn't resist his little face! The kids love him and I hope he ends up being a good dog, so far so good.

Oh and this little puppy was his brother. He was a lot smaller than rex and Brody was very interested in this little guy. But no we did not keep him.

The "Big" Meet

Here are a few snaps from Emery's swim meet about a month ago. This was a big meet, a lot of swimmers! Emery was nervous and trying so hard to be brave about diving into a pool with all these people standing around. I wasn't sure at first is she would go through with it. But she did and she did great.

Her good friend Trevor was also at this meet, it was his first one. He did great! Here are the Dad's hanging out waiting for the next event. (There is a lot of waiting around at these meets).

She raced in two events, the 50 free and the 50 back. She got a great time in her 50 free and probably could have swam a little faster in her backstroke. I told her when she was done with that race, it looked like she was barely kicking in the water...she said I know I wasn't. Apparently we are still getting use to the idea that these are races ;)

Hawaii

I think it was a twin thing, but a few weeks ago I felt like I should go to Hawaii to see Ang. Of course I was a little bummed that I wouldn't be able to afford to take the family, but I knew that it was important for me to go and visit Ang.

We had a nice time, hanging out at the beach, at home, and the mall even. It was so strange to not have the kids with me, I felt a little lazy really. But I loved spending time with Kya and Lucy without my bunch hanging around. They were a lot of fun, and I was so surprised to hear how much they love to sing!! Especially Kya, watch out Lady Gaga!!

One of my highlights was seeing these gentle giants laying on the beach. I loved watching these guys just lay in the sand, so peaceful. They are an endangered animal, so they rope off the area around the turtles for protection. They even have volunteers there to share information with about the turtles. I think my mom would love that job, lots of people to talk to.

Being gone for 6 days was strange, but it was a nice break for me. I miss my sister a lot, having her so far away is difficult. Bryan did a great job at home, and greeted me with open arms when I got back. His comment to me, was I feel like I have balance back in my life. He is great!

Landry and his cupcake

Today was Landry's official 1st birthday, can't believe it has been a year already. We are having a little party for him next weekend with family, but of course the kids really wanted him to have something today. So consider this a practice run, plus we know how much Auntie Angela misses this little guy so I thought it would be nice for her to him in action!!!

Don't recommend this...

Signs of spring are showing up all around us right now and it is so tempting to take the kids out into a lovely orchard and take some nice pictures.

Well this was my thought and has been for a few weeks. The mustard flowers are so bright and pretty, and the blossoms are just so cute.

So the other day I decided I'm just going to give this photo shoot a try.....well I am not sure I recommend and here are some examples:

Ok so this is the first of many, many shots. Not bad right everyone is looking, even Brody is actually cute with his arm on Emery's shoulder. The only problem is, I had the flash on and the camera was set in the wrong settings. This is my fault, I take all the blame for this and the sad thing is, this really is one of the ONLY pictures where they are all looking!!
The following are not my fault...

Landry was really enjoying Cambree's hair.

Cambree is mad in this picture because I asked her to let Brody sit down in the chair instead of her. Oh the sadness.

I quickly scrapped the group shots and started to focus on individuals. This guy just wanted to crawl through the dirt! So I thought ok, maybe I should have a sister help him out.

So next time I will make sure to have some help, and most likely not be the one behind the camera. Here are a few that made me feel a little better about the whole challenge. The good news is I still think the orchards are beautiful, but I think my children are even more beautiful than them.

Who needs a dog???

Who needs a dog when you have your brother to help you clean up your messes??

This actually happens quite often in our house. Ever since I thought it would be better to have the breakfast and snack items on the lower shelves of the pantry. This way the older ones could help get to snacks without having to climb on chairs. The only problem is they forget to shut the doors when they are done. So than it's Landrys turn to go pick and dump out a little snack. I'm not really complaining though because it makes for less dishes to wash and I don't have to sweep....win win all the way around.
