Park Day

I realized this morning that I haven't taken the kids to a park in awhile. So I decided to pack us a lunch and head over for a change of scenery. Of course packing the lunch is always funny because little miss Cambree is right there with me. She is all about questions these days...what are you doing? What is that? Where are we going? So I have to make sure she understands all the details or it is upsetting to her. For example I have to explain to her that when we arrive at the park, we are going to play first and than we will eat our lunch. Otherwise she will expect to eat right when we arrive and get upset when she finds out that wasn't the plan. So I suppose the goal here is to just have an outing with one less breakdown. I love how the kids always pair themselves off. Emery and Kelci just naturally know what to do to help the younger ones out.

Soon after we started to play at the park, the kids found this little bird stuck in the tan bark. Poor little thing, it wasn't very cute, but I did feel bad for it. I don't even like to walk on tan bark barefoot...and the fact that now it was without it's mom and dad. We left it where we found it because the city workers were all over the park doing maintenance, mowing the grass, etc. The interesting part was, the mommy and daddy robin were still bringing the baby bird food and so the kids got to see up close how they are fed. Hopefully the bird will be safe, it's chances are better now that Brody has left the park ;)

While we were sitting eating our picnic lunch, Emery decided to take this picture of herself...nice.

Of course Kelci wanted to try...

This is Cambrees attempt...

Here is Brody doing what he does best when it comes to meal time....do something else. Luckily if he skips his lunch he will eat pretty well after his nap.

That picture of the kids paired off is just too cute! And I love Cambree's attempt at crossing her eyes.

Diana is the same way. If you explain something to her, she's fine. Everything has to have a reason to it. There's no such thing as "Just because."
