OK, so I think it is a cool shot. The feet belong to my niece Jenae, my daughter Kelci, and my nephew Tyler. The photographer wanted to highlight shadow of the big flag flying, but he was also capturing the kids little flags they were holding. I don't believe this picture was in the actual newspaper, but it was online in a slideshow. I read one of the comments from someone who saw the picture:
Would have been nice to have some photos of the parade. The ones you have posted are of one or two people and one of some feet. None of the actual parade entries. Not even a big crowd shot. You are the community newspaper, it would be nice to have the community covered better.
What do you think about this comment? I feel like if you would like to see the parade you can watch it on local T.V.....yes they broadcast it. I realize some people are not able to come and attend these types of events, but I felt like the photographer did a great job and I'm not saying that because I know the feet!!! He took some other shots that were reflections of patriotism and that is what it is all about.

Well that person is retarded, most of the stuff in the parade looks the same year after year anyways. I like the fact that the photographer was using creativity. That's cute that it is familiar feet......
That is a cool shot of the feet and the flags. I at first didn't even see or realize the shadow of the other flag. It is really patriotic.
I don't think I have ever been to the FF parade on the fourth of July. We were probably always on the lake boating.
The photo staff at the DR is very artistic so they are always looking for something new and creative to get. They have to shoot a lot of parades throughout the year so it's definitely hard to come up with something different. Also, the editors at the DR love crowd shots and this photo fits the bill for both editors and photographers alike. I love the photo and that it has someone's feet in it that I know makes it even better!
