It happened again, another one of our babies is growing up. It all started last week when Brody started biting his pacifier nipples off, yes he still used them for sleeping. But of course with this new task of chewing them up, we decided it was time to take them away. So he had the awful task of throwing away the last of his chewed up "chihuahuas" (pacifiers) Don't know why he called them that, but that is what he would call them.
That same week he went on his first overnighter without Mommy and Daddy. Chrystina took Cambree and Brody for me the day of my surgery. She is always such a huge help and the kids love staying with her, Craig and Tyler. Brody did great for her, especially since he no longer was using a pacifier for sleeping with, he even ate food like a normal kid...I told her she could keep him a little longer, until that became a habit, but he asked to come home (mama's boy).
When he did return home we decided to play off this big boy moment he is in and switch him out of his crib. This is always a little risky, I think anyway. My fear was that the nap struggle would escalate and result in those lovely long afternoons of no nap tanturms....but guess what, he did it!! He took to the big boy bed with no problem at all. We have had a couple of days where he didn't get a nap, but for the most part he is doing really well.
Now we just need to paint the room he is sleeping in with Cambree. Right now it is a lovely shade of purple with pink curtains and flowers all over the walls. We are thinking of going with a bug theme. Both Cambree and Brody are into bugs right now. It's great because Brody is willing and always ready to smash any bug or spider you need him to smash.

I guess I haven't read your blog for a while. You went in for surgery!! WOW. Glad you're recovering, and really, do whatever you have to do in regards to insurance. At least you know that you're done. Somehow that brings a certain amount of closure you know?
And good luck with the pacifiers. Just look at it this way- he won't be graduating from High School with one stuck in his mouth!:) That's what I told myself during potty training. It worked really well and made me relax. It's really only a matter of time you know?
Amy, I just switched Mason out of his crib this week too! You are brave to do pacifier and bed in the same week! Sounds like he did great though! Hope you are feeling good, I will have to have you over soon!
