Hamburger Fieldtrip

I'm a little late blogging about this field trip to the Bishops Hamburger Farm, but after a great blogging class my friend taught on Saturday, I felt guilty!

We have a small preschool group and this was our last day together, still can't believe we are done...where does time go? We were lucky with all this crazy weather lately, rain, sun, wind, rain, sun, etc. we actually had good weather for a change. The kids enjoyed the petting zoo, especially the baby goats there. There were deathly afraid of us, but they were really cute.

One of the things included in the field trip is a train ride out to the farm or garden area. This is where they teach the kids about bees, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, cow's milk, even wheat. After they explain how everything grows, etc, they tell the children they will have one with there lunch. You know like potatoes for your bag of chips, cucumbers for your pickles, things like that. I always chuckle to myself that they don't tell the kids where the actual hamburger comes from, especially when there is a cow sitting right there...I even thought the lady called the cow Angus....but I was wrong.

Brody was very impressed with the beehive. Lately he has been asking to catch a bee, he doesn't like it when I tell him it might not be a good idea, but he'll learn.

It was a fun day and glad that I could enjoy it with Brody and Cambree. They told everyone at home all about what they had learned. Can't wait to head back in the Fall when it's pumpkin time, my personal favorite.
