Batter Up!

Bryan has been playing softball with the church team. I enjoy watching the games, so each week I talk myself into packing up all the kiddos and heading over to the fields. The first night we were there, someone had left a bat and a ball laying in an open field area. Brody found it and quickly became interested in trying to the hit the ball, which was pretty funny to watch. Now you know why t-ball was invented. So after a little bit I decided I would hit the balls and he could chase them. This worked for awhile, than we were quickly joined by a few other little boys interested in playing. Well one of the boys could actually hit the ball, not bad for a 3 year old. I continued to stay close by (which I think anyone with small children should do) In this situation, I was the only mother who felt this way....strange to me. Well the little boy got a little too close to the stroller Landry was sitting in and before I could stop it, he WACKED Landry's hand (accidently, I should mention). At first I thought he just smashed it real good, of course Landry was in tears etc. So I pulled him out of his seat and discovered that the top of his index finger had actually been cut. The top layer of skin completely flapped over, weird injury I thought, but I felt bad for the little guy. That was the end of our night and we went home.

Here is my solution....no more real bat and ball at softball games....t-ball all the way (thanks to little tykes). This is small enough to pack with me and so far has been a huge hit at the games.

One night Bry was helping Brody with his hitting skills. It was so cute to hear Brody that night when he was getting into bed. He told me, "Mommy I hitted it hard, and putted my arm up, and standed fast!" He was so proud of himself.
