Well for some fabulous reason, we have 3 weeks off from school during winter break. I don't mind really, just means we don't have to hop out of bed early everyday and stick to schedules. During the last week we were trying to think of something fun, and DIFFERENT to do before school would start again. So we decided a quick trip to the city would be fun.
We made plans to meet Chelynne (Bryan's brave cousin who lives in SF)at the Exploritorium and the kids loved it. I wasn't sure if the little kids would have as much fun as the others, but surprisingly they did. There were a lot of things to play with, observe, and just wonder about.
After a few hours Chelynne was kind enough to take us over to the beach for a few minutes. It was a little breezy out, but at least we could see the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. We also took a drive over to Lombard St., which the kids thought was so cool. The whole time as we were driving up and down the hills of San Francisco, they were saying, I want to live here someday, this is so much fun....
This was the view from the top of Lombard St. (well taken from the back seat of the van anyway).
We eventually had to take our wonderful tour guide home and decided to see if we could find our way to a little Irish Pub downtown(it had been a busy day you know...kidding of course). Actually we were hoping to meet up with another one of Bryan's cousins, Kate and her boyfriend, who actually manages this little Irish Pub. We thought we were pretty lucky when we were able to find a parking spot right outside the pub, but that feeling quickly left us. About 5 minutes after we parked, one of the guys working in the back of the restaurant came out and announced that our van was being towed. Bryan and Kate ran outsie and sure enough our van was headed down the road already. Apparently on the bottom on the meter was a sign that stated this was a tow away zone, even though it was a meter. Apparently it was only a meter for loading and unloading....what??? We were so frustrated because of course there is no one to talk to about it and after having to pay $330.00 just to retrieve the van from the towing lot we were wanting to talk to someone. It's pretty obvious that we were being stalked and apparently the city of San Francisco thinks everyone is 3ft tall, that would explain the sign being so low on the pole right?
Well despite this unfortunate event, we really did enjoy ourselves today. It is just fun sometimes to get away and try something new. I think next time we will avoid the city, we seem to trouble every time we go.

ouch that hurts.
That stinks!
Ty and I are going to San Fran for a weekend getaway...I'll remember to look at ALL the parking signs to avoid any towing expenses:) Thanks for the heads up!
I recently got a speeding ticket! Not fun! But glad you enjoyed most of your day in the city of SF! It has been awhile since I have been there. I would not be able to go alone. I would get lost!
This reminds me so much of our family's trips to San Francisco! Except instead of getting our car towed, we would be lost for hours and hours-trying to figure out how to get out of there. the city may have some cool sites to visit, but driving and parking wise- I think it's highly over rated!
Thanks for bringing back my Exploratorium memories, though!
