Soccer Saturdays are back!

One of my favorite things about the Fall is when the kids have soccer games. I really enjoy going to them. Last week was a little iffy, because it was 103 and we had 3 games back to back to go to, but I know it won't be like every game.
It's Kelci's first year playing soccer, and she really likes it. She is really fun to watch, she runs and skips but manages to stay up with the pack and get a few kicks in here and there. Today was funny because she was playing a defender and for some reason she freezes in this position. She doesn't move at all. But right at the half time whistle the ball just happen to come right to her and she gave a pretty good kick, we were cheering that she finally did something in the position.

Some of the game highlights were:
1. The ref throwing a 7 year old girl out of the game for wearing glasses without a safety strap, she left in tears of course.
2. The ref yelling at a parent for helping tie her daughters shoe and holding up the game.
3. Our coach stepping out onto the field a little to give instructions to our players and than getting yelled out by the ref again...she was not happy!!
4. Even our goalies father was told to go sit on the sidelines because he was trying to help his daughter understand her position...which sometimes as parents we have to do.
5.The last highlight was Kelci's drag back move she did during the game, she was so proud of herself.

Oh did I mention this was an under 8 game, meaning most of the players are 6 and 7 years old. It was frustrating to a lot of people that this ref had to put a damper on the game being such a turd with these little girls who are still learning about the game. I wasn't sure but I thought Bryan was going to end up with a red card, he had a hard time keeping quiet too.

This is Emery's 4th year playing soccer and finally we are seeing some action. She is starting to understand how to be agressive as-well as understanding her positions. She loves playing on an all girl team this year which is different for her. Unlike Kelci's game, our ref at this game was almost invisible and couldn't get the whistle to work, so you just never know how it is going to go. Our team the Stringrays won and so the girls were excited.

Goodjob soccer girls!!

That's so funny that the ref was like that! I didn't even know that they had referees at that age. We miss soccer... maybe next year!

Oh the days at the river bottom...I am glad you like it, I get too frustrated with the whole program from parking issues to parents. We were coaches 2 years ago and it was CrAzY. I saw your hubby on Friday!

Thanks for giving me even more reasons to hold off on team sports for even longer with Diana. And this coming from a coach's wife and sports lady!

Your girls look so cute in their soccer uniforms! That ref sounds like a piece of work. Hopefully they'll get rid of him and get a person who actually has a heart.

Looks like so much fun. Too bad the ref was such a jerk. He probably needs to get a life other than being a soccer ref for the little kid league. Hope you get cooler weather soon! We're finally into the 80's.
