Wow 12! Has it really been that long since I started this whole motherhood adventure? It's true and Emery is so excited about it. She is an amazing young lady, I'm so lucky to have her for a daugther. She helps me out so much and thank goodness she is organized because we all know I could learn a few things in that department. She is excelling in school and despite the increase in the work load this year, she never complains. Infact she just gets things done...sometimes I don't even know she has a test or a project due because she just takes care of it and gets it done. So for her birthday I had this crazy idea to surprise her and take the whole family to SanFrancisco for the day. It has been awhile since we have been there and now that we are leaving California in the next few months, I thought it would be nice to make another trip. She was so excited about missing school and hanging out with the family for the day, it was perfect.

After breakfast we drove about an hour and forty five minutes to the El Cerrito bart station. The kids were impressed with the parking garage, putting the ticket in the ticket machine, and of course all the interesting people that ride bart. Let's face it, half the reason we love doing these kind of things is the people watching. Don't worry they were watching us right back with our five kids and all. This is the elevator we came out of when we arrived in the city. I thought it was pretty funny because we really had no idea we would come out right on the sidewalk...I know we need to get out more.
The Trolley ride was a lot of fun. It wasn't crowded at all and so we were able to sit and enjoy the ride all the way down to Fisherman's Wharf. I love looking at all the houses in city, each one is just so cute!

After we toured the mall on Market street and rode all the fun escalators round and round we headed back to the bart station. From there we decided to drive over to Oakland and see all the beautiful lights around the Temple. The sun was on it's way down so Bryan quickly took the kids on top while I ran around taking snaps of this beautiful building. On our way back down the Christmas lights were turned on, talk about good timing. The kids loved all the lights of course. Finally a kind stranger offered to take a family picture of all of us. First one of the day! We went on the little tour through the visitors center where we were reminded how important families are. It was such a sweet feeling to be here with my little family. After we headed to Emeryville and found a Denny's to eat at. We laughed the whole time that we were eating in Emeryville, which was totally unplanned. We arrived home pretty late with some pretty exhausted kids, but all of them said they had a lot of fun! Happy Birthday Emery!!!
