Cambree reminded me the other night how much she loves to read our blog books. I use to be pretty good about getting the daily things written down, cute stories, funny quotes, and just normal everyday happenings. So here I'm going to try and be better, for her, and for everyone who might be interested in later.
In Brody's first grade class they have a set of stuffed monkeys, George and Jane. When the monkeys are sent home with your child, they need to share an adventure and record it in the journal to share with the class. Of course, in our family it's the night before the journal and Jane need to go back to school and we are still trying to figure out what the adventure should be. I decided that maybe Brody should just share his ant farm with her. So we placed the ant farm on the kitchen table and had Brody take a couple of pictures with Jane looking at the ant farm. About a minute after we were done, I heard a crash on the floor and all the kids were screaming. Brody had knocked the ant farm off the table and the ants were going everywhere. Ok....I should mention that these are not cute little ants. They are ants that bite and not at all tiny and certainly not the kind you want roaming in the house. I quickly grabbed one of Landry's shoes and began smashing the ants. There were about 30 all together that needed to be killed. All in all it took us about thirty seconds to kill them all, although honestly it felt a lot longer. Brody was bummed, but I told him at least you have a fun adventure to share with your class now. I told him that we needed to mention that we killed the ants with shoes and he said, no mommy that would be way to silly. I had to point out that being silly in a story is not a bad thing right? He agreed and decided to write it in the journal.
