Barry R. Kirshner Sancutary

Well we are winding down to the final days of Christmas break and decided we should enjoy the nice weather and check out something new. Jenna, Karen and Carter decided to join us for the day so we headed to Oroville to check out the Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Sanctuary. I'm glad we decided to go, it was very cool to be so close to these exotic animals and learn more about them. Each of them had there own story of why they were here. The people working there were very friendly and informative as-well.

This was my first time seeing a Liger and I didn't even know they existed. A couple of them were a little scary behind the cages. My boys were pretty good while we were there. One of the rules is no running, so I was nervous they wouldn't be able to control themselves being outside and everything.

After we were done at the sancutary we took a short drive up to a little town called Cherokee. I had read there was once a thriving gold mining town there and thought it would be fun to check it out. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't much a ghost town left, just an old building with an old vault inside. But it was a pretty drive and now I think before we leave Yuba City in a couple of months I am going to head back up to Table Top Mountain and check out the beautiful wild flowers and waterfalls I have read about.
